The official announcement was given to the media about the Darlings film in March 2021. According to the report, Alia Bhatt joins Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, and Vijay Verma for the film. Debut director Jasmeet K. Reen has been given a chance to direct this film. Alia Bhatt, Gauri Khan, and Gaurav Verma are serving as producers for this film. Under their respective banners, Red Chilies Entertainment is used for production control.
This is the first time Alia Bhatt is producing a film. Later after one month, Gulzar was appointed as the Lyrics writer for the Darlings Movie. Initial photography sessions were conducted in Mumbai and Maharashtra on July 03, 2021. The film producers planned for the theatrical release, but later they decided to sell the Movie to Netflix India for 75 crores INR.
